• WHAT IS A MONUMENT VASE?

A vase that is placed on an upright monument. A cemetery often contains two types of sections or can restrict which type of memorial can be placed on its plots. An upright monument normally consists of two pieces of granite. The top part of the monument (where the lettering is engraved) is known as the die, and the longer bottom piece is called the base. The flower vases are typically mounted on the base section that extends past the die.

  • WHY DO METALCRAFT VASES SPARKLE?

Granite is a plutonic or deep seated rock which contains the minerals of quartz, feldspar, and mica. The rock itself is wholly crystallized and features unique granular patterns. The quartz contributes the shine and sparkle of the memorial. At Metalcraft, through our exclusive technology, we have simulated the quartz sparkle of the different granite colors in our matching finishes.

  • HOW DO YOU MOUNT THE FLOWER VASES TO THE MONUMENT?

For an upright monument, there are three different mounting systems offered by Metalcraft which your professional installer will use: Strap, Tape, or Lug. For more information, please refer to the Fastener page.

  • WHAT IS A LAWN/FLUSH GROUND VASE?

A vase that is placed on a flush marker, as opposed to a flower vase that is mounted on a base of an upright monument. A flush ground marker requires a different type of mounting system, known as a ground unit. A ground unit consists of a vase that has a chain attached to a ring, mounted to a canister. In the middle of a flush granite marker, often there is a core hole bored through the granite. This is where the canister slides through into the ground. This is so the vase can be inverted and stored when not in the use of holding flowers. The ground unit can also be used in the lawn in front of or to the side of the memorial.

  • WHAT IS A COMPLEMENTARY COLOR?

Metalcraft offers two lines of color finishes. Our granite match line simulates the quartz and color of specific granites. As an alternative we offer finishes that do not have the metalflake and are designed to complement the different colors of memorials rather than match. For example, the finish Statuary Bronze looks just as appealing on black granite as it does on gray, mahogany, or even a pink memorial.

  • WHERE WOULD YOU USE A WALL MOUNT VASE?

These vase designs are ideal for any vertical application. The most common are on the doors of mausoleum crypts or cremation niches. But these vases are also ideal for any monument that does not have a base, such as the back of a slant memorial.

  • CAN YOU ENGRAVE YOUR VASES OR URNS?

It is not suggested or recommended to engrave our flower vases. The process of engraving will cut through the protective coating, and would allow moisture to penetrate the coating, causing it to delaminate; however, there are name tags available for our cremation urns to allow personalization.
